Wisconsin’s Department of Natural Resources assures that there will be no alterations in the state’s approach to wolves following the recent federal decision.
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service announced its focus on a national wolf strategy, prompting the DNR to confirm that Wisconsin’s existing wolf plan will remain unchanged.
Wolves will continue to be protected under the federal endangered species list.
Wisconsin’s recently adopted wolf management plan eliminates a specific population goal and imposes significant restrictions on wolf hunting until the population exceeds a thousand.
