An online magazine that focuses on the food service industry is praising the work of the cafeteria staff in the Plymouth School District.
FoodService Director magazine noted that not only does the district provide healthy options in the cafeteria, but they extend that service all over.
They specifically note “offering nutritional lessons in the classroom, appearing at Future Farmers of America club meetings, harvesting lunch ingredients from an on-campus greenhouse, and even purchasing pork from a student’s family farm.”
The article also points out the quality of the food, saying District Food Service Director Caren Johnson and her team actually work with educators on food-based curriculum and focus on their relationship with the students.
Johnson’s commitment to her role is summarized by the final quote of the article, where she says, “We feel it’s our responsibility to ensure students leave with a love of food. The world is so full of tastes. You just have to be adventurous enough to go out there and try it.”
