To say the NFL’s postseason has been intriguing would be an massive understatement.
Nearly every single game has had some sort of storyline, with the most heartwarming undoubtedly being that of the Detroit Lions.
In the latest episode of his On the Line Podcast, former Green Bay Packer center Evan Smith spoke about the team and the culture that Head Coach Dan Campbell has created.
He started by explaining what it means to buy into what a coach is saying.
“It means that everyone believes the same goal, and that they strive to achieve the same goal,” he explained. “By doing so, you create a culture of selflessness,” which he said can be difficult in the NFL due to the egos of some players.
Smith admitted that, despite his distain for the organization due to his previous experience, namely the culture the former coach Jim Schwartz instilled leading to him being stomped on by Ndamukong Suh, he is cheering for the Lions to take down the San Francisco 49ers, and is happy that Dan Campbell is running the show.
As far as the AFC Championship game between the Baltimore Ravens and Kansas City Chiefs is concerned, Smith said it is going to be a brawl.
“It’s gonna be a game,” he said bluntly. “The Ravens’ defense is really really really good. I haven’t seen a defense this good in the NFL in quite a while.”
He also predicted that the game will be determined by the final drive of the 4th quarter.
Smith also said that the easiest path to victory for the Chiefs would be building a lead early and working to preserve that lead.
