A graduate of Manitowoc Lincoln High School, that went on to play Division 1 volleyball has decided to try out for the US National Volleyball team. Meg Wolowicz graduated from Lincoln back in 2014, and is now attending Northern Illinois University. Wolowicz and her coach began thinking about what the future holds for her right after this past season.

Meg began thinking about how to get her name out into the volleyball community last year as a sophomore, when she came to the conclusion that she wanted to continue to play after college. Of course it is always easier to go for something big like this when you have support.

Meg leaves for Colorado today, with the tryout running on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. She is ready for anything, but has a pretty good idea of wat to expect.
While she is very good at bringing a lot of energy to the court for every game, Meg does have one area of concern.
Meg believes she has a shot to make the team, even though she is, in her words, an underdog.
Meg is a very confident person, but has never gotten a big head. She has remained humble and has never forgotten where she came from. She was a star athlete during her time at Manitowoc Lincoln High School as well, playing not only volleyball, but basketball, and track and field as well.
Even with all her success, Meg is fully aware that she didn’t get there on her own. We asked her who has been her biggest influence throughout her life, and the question brought out a lot of emotion.
On top of being a top level athlete, by all accounts, Meg is also an outstanding person. We had the opportunity to speak with Kristine Lindow, who has been a friend of Meg’s since High School when they were playing against each other in both volleyball and track.
Meg’s volleyball coach at Lincoln, Mary Beth Dixon, also had high praise for her, saying, “We knew that Meg would develop into an even better volleyball player once she got into college. She dominated at the net at Lincoln, and when everyone you play is at the next level, you better improve or you will get passed by. She has improved in all aspects. She is big, strong, and getting quicker as she figures out the speed of the game. She has spent some of her summers playing abroad, which will also give her some experience. She was forced to step up this year in a little more of a leadership role as well. She has developed into a hardworking and tenacious volleyball player. I hope she does outstanding at the try-out.” Seehafer Broadcasting’s own Damon Ryan also had the privilege of watching, and calling a lot of Meg’s High School athletic career, and is very proud of how far she has come.
Meg is a great representative of the hardworking nature, and friendly nature of the lakeshore. Regardless of the outcome of the tryout, she shines the perfect light on the lakeshore, and what we represent. From everyone here at Seehafer Broadcasting, and everyone on the lakeshore, bump, set, spike it home Meg!
