The unemployment rate in our area rose a little bit in December.
According to theĀ Job Center of Wisconsin, Manitowoc County had an estimated 1,057 people reported as unemployed in December, which equates to an unemployment rate of 2.6%.
That is up one point from the previous month and three points from December of 2022.
423 of those individuals reside in the City of Manitowoc leaving the Clipper City with an unemployment rate of 2.7%.
That is one-tenth of a percent higher than both November and last December.
When compared to other cities and counties around the area, Sheboygan County reported a 2.1% unemployment rate, the City of Sheboygan came in at 2.4%, Outagamie County has a 2.3% unemployment rate, Calumet County is at 2.1%, Brown County is at 2.4%, and the City of Green Bay reports a 2.6% unemployment rate.
