The American Red Cross is once again asking residents to roll up their sleeves and give the gift of life.
An estimated 15,000 blood and platelet donations have gone uncollected through the first three weeks of the year, leaving the Red Cross very short on reserve blood.
A major reason for the uncollected donations is the bitter cold stretch that left many residents shuttered in their homes.
Now that it is warming up, the Red Cross is hoping more people will schedule an appointment or attend local blood drives.
The next blood drive in Manitowoc County will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Manitowoc on February 15th, but there will be one three days earlier at Faith Reformed Church in Cedar Grove.
You can schedule an appointment or see the full list of local blood drives by visiting RedCrossBlood.org, but you can also call 1-800-RED-CROSS.
Throughout the month of February, the Red Cross is also giving a $20 Amazon gift card to all who donate.
