Fond du Lac Police used a sponge round to end a confrontation with an armed woman.
Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of 7th Street just before 9:30 p.m. Tuesday on a report of a woman with a large knife.
The caller claimed the woman was suicidal. Officers located the 33-year-old woman driving the vehicle in that area and activated their lights.
However, she did not stop.
The woman led police on a short, low-speed chase through the southwest area of the city before coming to a stop near Highways V and 151.
She exited the vehicle and began walking toward the officers, still holding the knife.
The officers were prepared, and after asking her to stop and put down the knife, they shot a sponge round at the woman, which hit her in the leg, causing her to drop the knife.
The woman was taken into protective custody and evaluated by Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue crews.
