Playoff football is back for the Green Bay Packers.
They took down the Chicago Bears last weekend to secure their spot, and on the On the Line Podcast, former Packer O-Lineman Evan Smith said he knows exactly how the team feels.
“I was watching the video of the postgame speech by Coach LaFleur in the locker room…That is what it’s all about,” he said. “You can’t buy that.”
Smith, who won a Super Bowl with the Pack in 2011, reminisced about Dallas Cowboys Head Coach Mike McCarthy, who, of course, was the coach in Green Bay prior to Matt LaFleur taking the job.
Smith called him his favorite coach and said the Packers’ secondary is going to have to be on their toes.
“The Cowboys are super explosive,” Smith noted. “That’s one thing Mike has always emphasized as Offensive Coordinator. He takes shots at least once a quarter…You don’t know when it’s happening, but he is going to make a play, or it is going to be a big double move, and if it connects, it’s a house call.”
Ryan Brahm, who hosts the show with Smith, pointed out a few similarities between this season and how things went down the year the Pack brought the Lombardi Trophy back to Lambeau Field.
“2010…the Green Bay Packers won three of their last five games. This year, the Packers won three of the last five games,” he noted. “You guys beat Chicago in the last game of the regular season. Well look at my watch, we just beat Chicago in the last game of the regular season. You guys took on an NFC East team in the Wild Card, Philadelphia. Well, lookie here, we are taking on an NFC East team in the Wild Card yet again.”
The game this Sunday in Arlington Texas is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m., and will be aired on 107.9 FM WOMT.

The guys take a look at all six matchups this weekend, and Smith even compares a former teammate to a Hall of Famer.
