The Common Council has directed the city attorney to intervene on behalf of Milwaukee when a 140-million dollar power project goes before the Wisconsin Public Service Commission. American Transmission Company wants to run high-voltage lines to a new substation near the Foxconn campus in Mount Pleasant. The huge electronics manufacturing plant is expected to draw six times as much electrical power as any other Wisconsin factory. The Common Council is trying to make sure Milwaukee residents don’t see their electrical service rates go up to pay for it. Alderman Robert Bauman questions the need for more Foxconn subsidies.
