The man who stole a car with a woman and her child in it has been convicted.
51-year-old Jay Scott entered a guilty plea on charges of Carjacking while in Possession of a Weapon, Theft of Movable Property, and Felony Bail Jumping, while charges of Kidnapping, Forceful Abduction of a Child, and Armed Robbery were dismissed but read into the record.
Scott was arrested in October 2023 after he brandished a knife at a woman and her four-year-old child at the Fox River Mall and forced the woman to drive him to an ATM so she could withdraw money for him.
The woman and child were able to escape, leading to his arrest. Scott is due for sentencing in February.
