
The Appleton Police Department is reporting that 2023 was a good year as far as the crime rate is concerned.
In fact, the number of serious crimes reported in the city was down 24% when compared to 2022, and that marks the fourth consecutive year of the crime rate going down.
The Appleton Police Department categorizes serious crimes as those involving assault, burglary, robbery, sexual crimes, and OWI.
In 2020, officers responded to 1,143 such calls.
That number was down to only 358 in 2023.
Representatives from the Department have stated that they are happy to see the positive trend and that the initiatives implemented by the Department are working to make the area a safer place.
