Jacob Wallander was the hero of the day for Manitowoc United, as they picked up their second win in a row yesterday.
The game was part of a tournament in Green Bay, and United took down Wausau West 3-2 in a shootout.
Wausau opened up the scoring in the first period with an even-strength goal four minutes in, but Manitowoc would strike back in the second off the stick of Captain Benson Dickrell.
Dickrell would be responsible for the second United goal as well, after his team gave up a powerplay goal, also in the second frame.
The third period went scoreless, so it went to a shootout. Goalie Dan Karlin was perfect in the 1-on-1 session, and the ultimate winner came off the stick of the aforementioned Wallander.
Karlin ended the day with 30 saves and assisted Dickrell’s second goal.
Miles De Kok, coming off a hat trick last Friday, dished out an assist as well.
