The details of a recent homicide case in Green Bay have been revealed.
At around 6:30 p.m. on December 9th, 45-year-old Owen Backus knocked on the door of a resident in Western Avenue, asking them to call the police, noting he had been in a fight.
When police arrived, Backus told them he had fought off a man who had broken into his home, saying he was attacked with a wrench.
However, the 30-year-old victim was found with a cord around his neck and a shirt over his head and was later declared dead.
Backus then told police he had hit the victim with a beer pitcher and tied him up in order to keep him from attacking again.
Backus continued to claim self-defense, but he was arrested on a charge of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide.
The identity of the victim is not being released as per a request from the family.
