
The Manitowoc Lutheran boys basketball team went into Cedar Grove-Belgium Tuesday night (December 19th) and took down the Rockets 77-66.
The Lancers jumped out to a 43-25 lead at the break, but the Rockets blasted off in the second, scoring 41.
It wasn’t enough, though, as the Lancers secured the 11-point win. Derek Laabs had a big night for Lutheran, accounting for 23 of his team’s points, including three from beyond the arc.
Meanwhile, Brayden Bennet netted 11 points, while Wesley Hecker added 9.
For Cedar Grove-Belgium, two players dominated the court. Owen Gulke exploded in the second half, netting 22 points and finished with 30, while Matthew Peiffer added 20 of his own.
Nolan Aponte also netted 9 points in a losing effort.
The Lancers are now 6-2 on the season, with their next action slated for next Wednesday at Kiel.
The Rockets fell to 2-5 and will look to end their three-game skid at Lomira Friday.
On the girl’s side of the boy/girl doubleheader, the Lancers took down the Rockets 57-53, extending their win streak to 4 games and improving to 6-3.
