The man who police say is responsible for a death on the west side of the city over the weekend has been officially charged and identified.
45-year-old Owen Backus had his bail set at $1 million cash on a charge of Reckless Homicide.
Backus is the owner of the home on Western Avenue, where the yet unidentified victim was located.
According to police reports, Backus had gone to a neighbor’s home and asked them to call 911 at around 6:30 Saturday evening, saying he was involved in a fight.
When police arrived, they found the victim unconscious and began CPR.
However, the individual was later pronounced dead, and Backus was arrested.
The exact cause of death and the victim’s name have not been revealed.
