The Manitowoc United JV hockey team struggled in their matchup Friday night (December 8th), falling to the M&M Thunder 7-3.
The visiting team from Marinette jumped out to a two goal lead in the 1st period, but early in the 2nd, Reed Neuser received the puck on the power play, made his way through the shorthanded Thunder squad, and shelved a shot over the goalie’s shoulder to bring Manitowoc back within one.
The joy didn’t last long, as the Thunder would score four more in the 2nd period, taking a 6-1 lead into the final frame.
Miles De Kok and Benson Dickrell would get Manitowoc back on the board with a beautiful tick-tac-toe goal, and Aragon Jack would add one more thanks to an assist from Derek Bailey.
But United wouldn’t get any closer, allowing one more goal before the final horn sounded.
Goalie Dan Karlin ended up facing just 15 shots on the night, saving 8 of them.
United has to shake it off quickly, as they are back in action Saturday night.
The squad will be in the Whitefish Bay area, taking on a fellow co-op known as WNS.
