The Dane County Sheriff’s Office is considering discontinuing its presence on the social media platform X, along with several other agencies.
County Executive Joe Parisi, citing concerns over increasing hate speech on X, has urged county agencies to halt their posts on the platform by January 1st and explore alternative means of information dissemination.
Parisi emphasizes the need for the government to abstain from inadvertently endorsing such behavior.
Following Parisi’s directive, both the Dane County Airport and Public Health Madison and Dane County have already ceased their activities on the platform.
