We received some more information on the plane crash yesterday afternoon (November 30th).
According to the Manitowoc Police Department, it was a small, private plane carrying two people that crashed into the wooded area near Schuette Park.
Neither of the occupants suffered any life-threatening injuries.
Manitowoc Police and Fire personnel were the first on the scene, at around 3:15 p.m. but the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Agency have taken over the investigation.
It is believed that the aircraft suffered an unknown malfunction, causing it to rapidly decelerate in speed and altitude.
Anyone with videos of the plane in flight before the crash is encouraged to contact the Manitowoc Police Department, as they may help investigators figure out what happened.
