Governor Tony Evers Official Portrait
Governor Evers has once again vetoed a tax cut proposed by Republican lawmakers, dismissing it as an unserious plan.
The proposed $2 billion tax cut, intended to be funded from Wisconsin’s substantial budget surplus of nearly $7 billion, faced opposition from the governor.
Evers prefers directing the surplus towards initiatives such as childcare, Medicaid expansion, and other programs.
This marks the second time this year that the governor has vetoed a Republican tax cut, having previously rejected a $3 billion tax cut from the state budget over the summer.
