Wisconsin’s Supreme Court is set to hear arguments today regarding the redrawing of the state’s political maps.
Democrats and progressive groups are urging the liberal-majority Supreme Court to invalidate the current maps, alleging gerrymandering that disproportionately favors Republicans.
Republicans argue against such actions, contending that it would necessitate a redo of the 2022 State Senate elections, compelling over a dozen lawmakers to seek reelection next fall.
The case gained added attention due to Wisconsin’s swing state status and concerns about Justice Janet Protasiewicz’s impartiality based on her prior statements about the maps during last year’s Supreme Court election.
