Car theft in Milwaukee frequently goes unaddressed, with recent crime statistics revealing that only slightly over 200 out of nearly 5,000 stolen car cases have resulted in arrests this year.
This equates to a 4% clearance rate.
The Milwaukee Police Department, facing overwhelming numbers of car thefts, provided no clear explanation for the low arrest rates.
Last year’s clearance rate was six percent, and 2.5% the year before.
