Despite opposing Michigan Representative Rashida Tlaib on many things, Congressman Glenn Grothman says he isn’t a big fan of the attempt to censor her.
Tlaib has been under fire since she issued a statement following the October 7th attack by Hamas on Israel.
In her statement, she mourned the “Palestinian and Israeli lives lost yesterday, today, and every day” and criticized U.S. military assistance to Israel.
The House attempted to censure her, but the measure was tabled. In a statement to Seehafer News, Congressman Grothman said that despite the fact that he has “consistently criticized Rashida Tlaib’s radical left-wing ideology”, he said he does not like the “tendency in recent years to censure, remove from committees, or expel people for their outlandish statements made outside of their official capacity as a Member of Congress.
He also said, “If the people of Michigan want to vote for a progressive, anti-Israel fanatic, that is their right.”
That being said, Grothman also noted “I remain committed to condemning Tlaib and speaking out against her and others who share her mindset.”
