Charges have now been filed against the man who was shot by a Kaukauna police officer back in September.
Johnathon A. Gonzalez is facing charges of Recklessly Endangering Safety, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without the Owner’s Consent, and Fleeing or Eluding an Officer.
The incident occurred on September 13th in the 500 block of Diedrich Street. Officers had learned that a man had stolen a car and had fled from police earlier in the evening, and that he was going to that address.
When Sergeant Michael Frank converged on the vehicle, Gonzalez put the car in reverse and attempted to flee.
Sgt. Frank discharged a round, which hit Gonzalez, causing him to stop.
The shooting was deemed justified about a month later, and no charges were filed against Sgt. Frank.
