It is a rarity to see snow flying as people are dressed up as their favorite creepy characters, or as was the case this year, Barbie, Wednesday Addams, and Spiderman.
But snow it did yesterday, and in one city in Eastern Wisconsin set a Halloween snowfall record.
In Appleton, a total of 4.5” was recorded, demolishing the previous record of 2.7” set in 2019.
Snow is so rare on Halloween, this is only the third time the City of Appleton has had measurable snow on the All Hallows Eve since 1901.
It has been even longer for the City of Green Bay, which has only had measurable snowfall on October 31st three times since 1886.
As for Manitowoc County, the snow didn’t really accumulate, but the snow that landed on the roadways and sidewalks melted before refreezing, causing slick conditions.
