A Green Bay Police Officer has entered a plea deal in his court case.
Officer Matthew Knutson was found guilty due to a no-contest plea on a charge of Attempted Misconduct in Office with a Fraudulent Record or Statement, and was ordered to pay a $500 fine, and $1,083 in court fees.
Officer Knutson was charged months after he struck a fleeing suspect with his squad car, an incident which was captured on his dash camera.
Shortly after the deal was reached, Police Chief Chris Davis issued a statement.
It read in part, “As police officers, we are accountable for our actions. That is how it should be. The police service is based on trust, and we must always be worthy of that trust. We have a tremendous responsibility to keep the community safe, and to do so in a way that follows the law and our policies, and that respects people’s Constitutional and human rights. The vast majority of police professionals live up to this responsibility every day.”
