The mission is nearly complete in Manitowoc’s Evergreen Cemetery.
Dan Reinke, the man who has organized the cleaning of the Civil War gravesites in Manitowoc’s largest cemetery, tells Seehafer News there are only 51 sites left, and he hopes to have enough volunteers on Veterans Day to complete the mission.
Each gravesite will have a short biography on the individual, allowing volunteers to “meet” the national hero they are serving.
The Manitowoc County Civil War Roundtable will be at the event as well, and will lead volunteers with the Pledge of Allegiance at 10:00 a.m.
Any minors who would like to volunteer to help will be required to fill out a waiver before cleaning a stone.
