Republican lawmakers at the Wisconsin Capitol are working to address what they claim is a loophole in the state’s election laws.
An Assembly committee is currently reviewing a proposal aimed at tightening regulations for indefinitely confined voters.
In 2020, Wisconsin experienced a notable increase in the number of indefinitely confined voters, despite many not being homebound.
The proposed changes would necessitate that voters request a separate indefinitely confined absentee ballot, provide proof of identity, and prohibit them from voting as indefinitely confined if they choose to vote in person.
