Some layoffs may soon be coming to UW Green Bay.
The Chancellor’s Office released a letter outlining the budget plan for 2024, and as a part of that, nine staff members will likely be let go.
These cuts are estimated to reduce the structural deficit by $381,800 and will “ensure that we stay above $5 million in our GPR/Tuition Fund reserves in FY24” the letter notes.
Additionally, the in-person library services at the Manitowoc and Marinette campuses will be coming to an end while the library services at the Sheboygan campus will be significantly reduced at the start of the spring semester.
UWGB is not the only UW school to face budget cuts, as UW Oshkosh and others are working to reduce spending by millions for the upcoming fiscal year.
The reason for the cuts has been a reported decline in enrollment from high school graduates and less support out of Madison.
