The local buy-in for the plan to pay for renovations at American Family Field is shrinking.
Yesterday, Republican state legislators announced that the revised plan, which utilizes taxpayer funds for upgrading and enhancing the Brewers’ stadium, will now only necessitate an annual contribution of $5 million from the city and county.
In total, this amounts to $135 million, a reduction from the initial $200 dollar proposal put forth by Republicans.
Part of this funding will be derived from the newly implemented sales tax in the city and county, while an additional source will be a ticket surcharge for non-Brewer games aimed at generating funds for American Family Field.
Despite these adjustments, several Milwaukee leaders express concerns about their ability to meet their financial obligations in this regard.
