Wisconsin’s State Superintendent of Schools, Jill Underly, strongly condemned a recent bill aimed at restricting the rights of transgender youth, warning that it could have deadly consequences for children.
Underly addressed lawmakers, emphasizing that the proposed legislation, championed by Republican State Rep. Barb Dittrich, which seeks to bar transgender athletes from participating in girls and women’s sports, is not only discriminatory but also perilous.
Several LGBTQ advocates and lawmakers joined Underly in criticizing the bill, stating that it would inflict significant harm and emotional distress on affected individuals.
