Janesville law enforcement recently made a discovery when they uncovered a military-grade grenade in the basement of a private residence.
The incident unfolded yesterday afternoon when an individual engaged in house cleaning stumbled upon the grenade and promptly dialed 911 to report the finding.
Responding swiftly to the potentially hazardous situation, Janesville Police contacted the Dane County Bomb Squad for expert assistance.
Upon examination, bomb squad members confirmed that the discovered object was indeed a genuine grenade, albeit without a fuse attached.
Following a thorough search of the residence, Janesville Police granted residents permission to re-enter their homes safely.
Subsequently, the bomb squad took charge of disposing of the grenade, ensuring that it posed no further threat to the community.
