A verdict of not guilty has been reached in the case involving a man from western Wisconsin who was accused of causing the death of his seven-week-old child.
Following the jury’s deliberation yesterday, Paul Marshall was acquitted of all charges.
The charges were brought against him in February of the previous year, alleging reckless homicide, after law enforcement discovered his seven-week-old infant severely bruised and unresponsive.
Tragically, the infant passed away a few days later in the hospital, with medical professionals attributing the cause of death to a brain bleed.
Throughout the trial, Marshall’s legal defense team contended that he should not be the sole focus of suspicion.
They raised the possibility that the child’s mother and a babysitter had also been alone with the baby shortly before the tragic incident occurred.
Hudson police have not disclosed whether they anticipate pursuing charges against anyone else in connection with this case.
