An 18-year-old student from Madison is now charged with battery following an incident in which he allegedly assaulted a high school principal.
Nathaniel Haverland stands accused of striking La Follette Principal Mathew Thompson twice in the head this past Friday.
The altercation occurred shortly after Principal Thompson announced over the school’s public intercom system that a taxi was awaiting Haverland.
Notably, Haverland was previously involved in an assault on an assistant principal last year.
In light of these developments, prosecutors have mandated that Haverland complete his high school education through remote learning, as he is now prohibited from entering the La Follette campus.
