A 51-year-old man is dead after participating in the Ironman triathlon in Madison.
IRONMAN Wisconsin has reported that the individual “experienced a medical episode” while competing in the cycling segment of the race in Cross Plains.
Promptly, an off-duty police officer and a member of the race staff rushed to provide immediate medical aid to the stricken athlete.
Subsequently, emergency medical services (EMS) transported him to a nearby hospital for urgent care, but his life could not be saved.
