The Citizens Utility Board (CUB) of Wisconsin has submitted a request to state regulators urging them to place restrictions on the profit margins of some of the state’s largest utility companies.
In a recent move, CUB petitioned the state’s Public Service Commission to exercise caution when considering rate hike proposals from Alliant Energy, Xcel Energy, and Madison Gas and Electric.
All three of these utility companies are scheduled for hearings before the PSC next week, with each seeking to impose higher charges on their customers.
Steve Kihm, representing CUB, emphasized the importance of state regulators focusing on customer affordability rather than merely facilitating a lucrative return on investment for these prominent power companies.
