The Chamber of Manitowoc County has announced a financial literacy event that is planned for five area high schools.
The program is called The Reality Store, and it will teach students basic skills in financial planning, goal setting, decision making, and career planning.
Prior to each program, students will choose their future career and receive a monthly salary deposited in their checking account.
Students then enter The Reality Store with their checkbook where they will first stop at “Uncle Sam” for their tax deduction.
They then proceed to “The Bank/Credit Union” for their student loan deduction before visiting thirteen other booths making purchases for their life such as buying a car, home, groceries, and utilities.
Volunteers are needed for each of the events which will be held at Two Rivers High School on October 3rd, Mishicot on November 10th, Manitowoc Lincoln on February 13th, Valders on March 7th, and Manitowoc Lutheran on March 20th.
