Two Democratic legislators, Senator Chris Larson representing Milwaukee and State Representative Francesca Hong from Madison, have recently reintroduced a proposal aimed at abolishing Wisconsin’s tipped minimum wage.
Their plan advocates for equal pay for bartenders, waitstaff, and other tipped employees, aligning their wages with those of other workers. Larson and Hong assert that tipped workers should receive a living wage.
Currently, Wisconsin’s minimum wage stands at $7.25 per hour, whereas the tipped minimum wage is just $2.33 per hour.
This marks the second attempt by Larson and Hong to implement a similar plan, as their previous effort two years ago failed to gain traction in the Capitol.
