The 11-year-old boy from Milwaukee, who stands accused of fatally shooting his mother in a dispute over a VR headset, is set to face a trial, however, the question of whether he will be tried in an adult court remains uncertain.
In a recent development, a judge ruled yesterday that there is sufficient evidence to proceed with a trial for the young defendant.
Meanwhile, the defense team is advocating to retain the case within the jurisdiction of the juvenile court system.
During the proceedings, a Milwaukee Police detective provided crucial testimony, revealing that the boy had confessed to pulling the trigger in an incident that occurred last November.
According to the detective, the boy claimed he believed he was aiming the weapon past his mother at the time of the tragic incident.
Investigators delving into the case have suggested that the boy’s motivation stemmed from his anger over his mother’s refusal to purchase a VR headset for him.
It was also discovered that the boy acquired the very same VR headset just one day after his mother’s untimely death.
