A Manitowoc student has been named the recipient of a technician scholarship from the Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers Association (WATDA) Foundation.
Daniel E. Simonar is getting the $1,500 Jerry & Dorothy Holz Scholarship to help him continue his technical training at Lakeshore Technical College.
Simonar is also set to receive a brand new tool set, valued at $4,855, from Snap-on Corporation headquartered in Kenosha.
The WATDA Foundation has awarded more than 2,300 transportation scholarships since its founding in 1928.
The organization stated in the announcement of the scholarship that the “statewide technician talent shortage is real, and dealerships and shops are facing historic technician shortages in automotive, collision, and diesel positions.”
