The Two Rivers City Council held a moment of silence during their meeting Monday after a 12-year-old boy drowned in Lake Michigan last week.
City Manager Greg Buckley calls it a tragic loss and noted it’s the first drowning that many in the city have heard about.
There have been preliminary discussions.
“About who do we improve public education and public awareness of weather alerts are available through the National Weather Service,” Buckley explained. “I expect that will be addressed in our capital plan for next year.”
Buckley also says he appreciated the work the Two Rivers Police and Fire Departments did when they tried to save the child.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to help pay for his funeral.
