A prominent meat processor in Kewaunee County has issued a recall on several of their ready-to-eat products.
Salmon’s Meats stated on their website that the products being recalled include their summer sausage, sliced, smoked, shaved, and cooked ham, beef sticks, and smoked sliced ribeye.
The recall is due to them potentially being contaminated with the pathogen known as Listeria monocytogenes which can cause serious or even fatal infection in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Although healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headache, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea.
If you have purchased any of the potentially affected items, you are encouraged to throw them away or return them where you bought them.
