The Green Bay Police Officer accused of ramming his car into a suspect he was chasing has entered a not-guilty plea.
Officer Matthew Knutson has been charged with Misconduct in Public Office and Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
Knutson was charged after a video surfaced of him driving his car onto a sidewalk in November of 2021 as he was chasing a suspect.
The man had allegedly run away from a traffic stop, and was struck by Officer Knutson’s squad as can be seen in the dash camera footage.
When the Brown County District Attorney made the Green Bay Police Department aware of the situation nearly a year after the fact, the Sheriff’s Office was contacted to conduct an investigation.
For his defense, Knutson’s attorney requested the court dismiss the charges, claiming the criminal complaint is insufficient to establish probable cause, which the court denied.
