The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers fell to the West Division-leading Cedar Rapids Kernels last night 4-1.
Wisconsin’s offense never could string anything together, tagging starter Kyle Jones for only two hits, and reliever Jarret Whorff for one.
The Rattlers were able to break the shutout in the 9th but it was too little too late.
Wisconsin starter Nate Peterson suffered the loss, giving up 3 runs on 6 hits through 5 innings of work.
Nick Merkel pitched well in relief allowing only one baserunner through 2 innings while striking out 4 batters.
Justin King closed out the game allowing 1 hit and 1 run while also walking 3 batters.
The Rattlers and Kernels will square off again tonight in Cedar Rapids Iowa as Cameron Wagoner gets the start against Christian MacLeod.
First pitch at PG Cares Field is slated for 6:35 p.m.
