A family in Fond du Lac is now without a home and is mourning the loss of two pets after a fire.
The Fond du Lac Fire Rescue Department was called to the 100 block of West Scott Street just after 6:45 p.m. on a report of a fire.
When they arrived, crews saw flames showing through a first-floor window of the two-story single-family home and reported smoke emitting from the entire structure.
Firefighters were able to knock down the flames from the outside before making entrance to search for occupants.
No one was found inside, and the flames were brought under control within about 30 minutes.
No human injuries were reported, however, two-family pets were reported to have died inside.
The cause and origin of the fire have yet to be determined as the investigation remains ongoing.
