Both Wisconsin Republicans and their counterparts on the national stage are seeking participation in the ongoing legal dispute regarding absentee ballots within the state.
In a move this week, both the state and national Republican parties have formally requested to be included in the case, initiated by a pair of progressive organizations.
The legal action aims to challenge Wisconsin’s existing regulations concerning absentee ballots, the utilization of ballot drop boxes, and the feasibility of casting same-day ballots.
While the lawsuit targets the Wisconsin Elections Commission, Republicans contend that they should be responsible for the defense, as it is they who could bear the consequences if the liberal groups secure a victory.
Having been filed last month, the timing for a judge’s decision on the Republicans’ request remains uncertain.
