The Wisconsin Timber Rattlers scored runs early last night against the Dayton Dragons and held on for a 6-4 win.
The Rattler offense started out strong, plating 6 runs in the first inning with four different batters knocking home runners, but after that, the bats fell silent.
Only four more hits were recorded over the final seven innings.
However, the pitching staff did just enough to get the win.
Starter Nate Peterson went 4 innings allowing just 3 hits and no runs, but his reliever Nick Merkel did allow a three-run home run in the 6th inning and a total of 4 hits over his 2 innings of work.
Sam Gardner would also allow a run on a solo homer the next inning, and pitched two thirds innings, before Tanner Shears slammed the door shut, striking out 3 batters and walking only one.
The Rattler pitchers combined for 15 Ks on the day.
The two teams will square off again at 6:40 this evening at Fox Cities Stadium on what will be Racing Night and Bark in the Park night.
Stivin Cruz will get the start against Chris McElvain.
