Prosecutors have concluded their investigation into a deadly shooting that occurred back in February involving a Milwaukee police officer.
On Friday, the District Attorney (D.A.) announced that Officer Kevin Hansen’s actions were deemed justified in the incident where he shot and killed Herman Lucas near 91st and Silver Spring.
According to the findings of the investigation, Lucas had initially attempted to evade Officer Hansen by speeding away from the scene.
However, he soon abandoned his vehicle and fled on foot while carrying a firearm in his hand. Despite repeated commands from the officer to drop the weapon, Lucas reportedly refused to comply with the instructions.
In a tense standoff, Lucas dropped the gun momentarily, but then picked it up again, leading to the fatal shooting.
Following a thorough examination of the evidence and witness testimonies, the D.A. determined that Officer Kevin Hansen had acted within the bounds of the law and in accordance with departmental guidelines.
As a result, the officer has been cleared of any wrongdoing in the tragic shooting incident involving Herman Lucas.
