The Wisconsin Assembly’s leading Republican figure, Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, expressed the belief that a court will ultimately determine the extent of Governor Evers’ authority to extend school funding for an unprecedented period of 400 years.
Vos made these remarks during an appearance on UPFRONT over the weekend.
He questioned the governor’s utilization of a partial veto, which involved the elimination of certain figures and a dash, ultimately resulting in a proposed two-year school funding increase being extended until the year 2425.
While Wisconsin governors possess extensive veto powers, Vos expressed uncertainty about the extent of the governor’s authority in this particular case.
In light of these concerns, Vos mentioned that Republicans are actively preparing to initiate legal action.
