The crime rates for 2017 in the City of Manitowoc have been released. The total number of crimes including parking violations rose significantly from 7790 in 2016 to 8755. Part one crimes, which vary from homicide to theft are at the lowest they have been since prior to 2013, totaling 1227. Notably, there were zero recorded criminal homicides in the city last year. With 1298 recorded, the number of vehicle accidents are also at the lowest rate since 2014. However there was a rise in all arrests, citations, and warnings over 2016. Adult criminal charges have been rising since 2014, when there were 1651. In 2017 that number has skyrocketed to 2048. The number of juvenile criminal charges also too a huge leap, rising from 253 in 2016 to 372. On the positive side, the number of accidents dropped by 116, and the total number of parking violations also dropped by 548.
