The Mishicot couple who has been the driving force behind Dillon’s Law in Wisconsin and several other states are now asking for your help.
Angel and George Mueller have been pushing for easier access to epinephrine auto-injectors since their son Dillon died from a bee sting in 2014.
Two different versions of Dillon’s Law have been passed in Wisconsin, with a third heading to Governor Tony Evers’ desk, and now, as Angel explains, a version has been introduced by Congressman Glenn Grothman at the federal level.
“States that take on Dillion’s Law, it incentivizes their Department of Health to do this, to get folks trained in their state, to be able to carry and administer epinephrine auto-injectors as a good Samaritan,” she explained, noting that if states were to pass the bill, they would “be chosen first for federal grants.”
However, it is currently stuck in what Angel is calling the “garage” of the Energy and Commerce Committee Subcommittee on Health
“In order for them to be aware of it and to help support us in the nationwide campaign, we need folks to get ahold of their friends and families in other states,” she said.
Angel explained that supports should look up the email and/or phone number of their Senators and Congressmen/women, and tell them “We are really in support of HR3910, a.k.a Dillion’s Law, and this is something that I would like to have you on board supporting.”
Without this push, Angel said that the measure would likely end up like a lot of the items in the back of your garage, lost and forgotten.
The Muellers are also continuing their drive to train as many people as possible in the administration of epinephrine and save lives.
